Welcome to St Nick’s on Sunday 8th December
Dear Friends,

This Sunday we will be celebrating Christingle, Advent 2 and St.Nick’s birthday Sunday with a fun service. We will also find out more about the work of the Children’s Society in 2024.
The tradition of Christingle, involves distributing Christingles to the children with some for the adults too. It consists of an orange, decorated with a red ribbon, dried fruits or sweets, and a candle on top. Each element has a special meaning:
- The orange represents the world.
- The red ribbon symbolizes the love and blood of Christ.
- The sweets and dried fruits represent all of God’s creations.
- The lit candle signifies Jesus’s light in the world, bringing hope to those in darkness
The Children’s Society has been organising Christingle services for over 50 years. These events not only celebrate the festive season but also raise funds to support their work with vulnerable children and young people. The money raised helps provide essential services and support to those in need, making a significant impact on their lives. Do find out more by looking at the society website: https://www.childrenssociety.org.uk/
Our service this Sunday will be led by our lead minister Rev Dr. K. Augustine Tanner-Ihm, we look forward to welcoming Mark Vermes a lay reader from St.James and Emmanuel to preach. St.Nick’s MD Ollie Mills will provide the music. Readings and prayers will be lead by St.Nick’s team. Refreshments will be served after the service.
