Welcome to St.Nick’s on Sunday 25th May 2025
Dear Friends,
Over the past year we have seen God do amazing things among us. Thank you to our Churchwarden Alison Mills for her outstanding pastoral and organisational leadership. Thank you to the Standing Committee: Andy Mills (Tech & Accounts), Julie Crossley (Social Transformation),Tony Witty (Buildings & Maintenance).Thank you to the PCC and to all of you for your faithful support. A Year in Review: God has done amazing things in our parish this year. Highlights include: Our Summer Fair welcomed over 100 guests, ongoing engagement with our local community.
Let’s take a moment to reflect through our annual video: watch the video on this link https://youtu.be/SyPKx2BkYng
Living in uncertainty:
We continue to live in uncertain times. No incumbent for over 4 years. No Team Rector Pastoral reorganisation delayed. Faculty for chairs still pending. Revd Augustine to remain until end of 2025 (subject to change with notice). As many of you know The Bishop of Middleton and the Bishop of Manchester are allowing me to stay at St. Nicholas Kingsway until the end of 2025. I cannot promise that I will be here until then but I promise to give you all the most notice as possible. I also thank you for your prayers as I continue to go through the safeguarding issues experience with the Church of England.
A Call to Prayerful Change:
I believe that the best is yet to come for St. Nick’s Kingsway. But with that comes change. I ask you all before you desire to complain about something being different, I will ask have you prayed about it or sought the Lord about this.
- Before complaining, ask:
- Have I prayed about this?
- Have I sought the Lord’s guidance?
- God is doing a new thing—let’s stay open and courageous.
Our Vision – The 3 C’s
- St. Nick’s aims to be a centre of:
- Community
- Compassion
- Creativity
- Serving East Didsbury and Burnage through gospel transformation.
We want God to invade every area of our community to transform every person here. Everyone desires to be Loved and to feel safe and that is where we are going.
As, I pray for this parish God gave me a verse for this next year.
Colossians 3:2 “Set your minds on things above, not on things that are on earth.”
This verse is something I will continue to pray about and use throughout this year. If feel God is calling us to be praying more in this season than before.
Looking Ahead:Thank you for walking this road together.Let’s not just go to church—let’s be the church.
The best is yet to come.
