Many gardens are usually looking their best at this time of year with flower beds in full bloom and vegetable crops growing nicely. We may be fortunate enough to enjoy our own gardens or those of a friend, or to pay a visit to the wonderful gardens at RHS Bridgewater, or Tatton Park or we may have ‘green fingered’ neighbours. As we wander through a garden enjoying the rich colours and beautiful shapes and scents of flowers or the sight and taste of newly cut vegetables, do we question as to whether it began with a ‘small seed’. How does anyone know what to sow, where and when to sow it. where do you start?

This week’s gospel tells of Jesus ‘sowing seeds’, and being a gardener. The seeds that Jesus is sowing in the story are seeds about the kingdom of heaven. The most basic of meals or the grandest of banquets are enriched by the inclusion of vegetables, great or small. Our gardens and flowers at home or in church, are enriched by small flowers as well as large blooms, the hidden beauty as well as the bright colours. 

Let us nurture the kingdom faith in us and share the kingdom seeds with those all around us, to help God’s kingdom to flourish and grow in our local community.

Wednesday midweek Holy Communion 10.30 am
We  hold our usual Wednesday Holy Communion at 10.30am.We look forward to welcoming Rev Mark Hewerdine to preside at our Wednesday services in July and August.

Sunday 26th July
We look forward to welcoming back Rev Canon Patrick Davies to preside and preach at our Eucharist service  which starts at 10.45am. Music will be provided by Christian Fields with prayers and the Gospel reading delivered by St Nick’s team. Refreshments will be served after the service.

Prayer for Sunday 26th July

Lord God,
your Son left the riches of heaven
and became poor for our sake:
when we prosper save us from pride,
when we are needy, save us from despair,
that we may trust in yiou alone; 
through Jesus Christ our Lord. 
Amen
