Welcome to St Nick’s On Sunday 15th September
Greetings, St. Nick’s Family!
This Sunday, we dive into a remarkable encounter in Mark 7:24-37, where Jesus breaks a few cultural boundaries on His way to heal a Gentile woman’s daughter and a man who couldn’t hear or speak. If there was ever a moment when Jesus could have taken a vacation, this might have been it—He tried to escape to a quiet place, but word got out. There goes the holiday! We heard Michael Power give the sermon powerfully and graciously. And we blessed the backpacks of some of our children for the new school year.
In this story, we see a glimpse of God’s willingness to cross borders—literal and spiritual—inviting us all to share in His grace, regardless of our backgrounds. As we reflect on the power of persistence and the surprising way God works, let’s prepare our hearts for some divine boundary-breaking in our own lives!
And don’t worry, if you’re tempted to “pretend not to hear” what God is calling you to do, remember the man who was healed this week. There’s no selective hearing with Jesus!
I was at a conference learning more about vocations in the Church of England and asking God, what’s next. Continue to pray for me during this transition.
All love and light,
Revd Augustine
