Welcome to St. Nick’s for Trinity 12, Sunday 18th August
Dear St. Nicholas Church Family,
As we gather this week, our hearts are heavy with the grief of losing loved ones. Grief is a profound journey, one that touches the very core of our being. It reminds us of the deep connections we share and the love that transcends even death. In these moments, let us lean on our faith and each other, finding solace in the promise of eternal life.
This week, we also celebrate one of my favourite saints, St. Maximilian Kolbe. His life is a testament to the power of selfless love and sacrifice. St. Maximilian Kolbe’s unwavering faith and courage in the face of unimaginable adversity inspire us to live with compassion and dedication to others.
Our Sunday reading from John 6:51-58 invites us to reflect on the profound mystery of the Eucharist. Jesus tells us, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever.” These words offer us hope and a reminder of the spiritual nourishment we receive through Christ.
I am delighted to introduce Mr. Michael Power, who joins us from St. James and Emmanuel Didsbury. Michael is currently training at the College of the Resurrection, Mirfield. He is deeply spiritual, an avid reader, and hails from Manchester. Michael also studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, bringing a rich background of both faith and the arts to our community.
Let us welcome Michael with open hearts and support him in his journey. May we continue to grow together in faith, love, and service.
Blessings,
Revd Dr Augustine Tanner-Ihm
