Welcome to St. Nick’s for Holy Week 2025

Dear St. Nick’s Family,

As we journey together through Holy Week, I am reminded of the profound significance of this time. It’s a week that encapsulates the essence of our faith, from the joyous hosannas of Palm Sunday to the solemn reflection of Good Friday, culminating in the triumphant celebration of Easter Sunday.

In the words of the Apostle Paul, “For if we have been united with Him in a death like His, we will certainly also be united with Him in a resurrection like His” (Romans 6:5).

This week, we are invited to walk with Jesus, to share in His suffering, and to rejoice in His victory over death.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Revd Augustine, how can we possibly find humour in such a solemn week?” Well, let me assure you, even in the midst of our deepest reflections, a little light-heartedness can remind us of the joy that awaits us. After all, as G.K. Chesterton once said, “Angels can fly because they take themselves lightly.”

So, as we gather for our services and events, let’s embrace the full spectrum of emotions that Holy Week brings. Let’s weep, let’s laugh, and let’s celebrate the incredible love that God has shown us through His Son, Jesus Christ.

May this Holy Week be a time of deep spiritual renewal for each of us.

Blessings, Revd Dr. Augustine Tanner-Ihm Lead Minister, St. Nick’s Church Kingsway
