Welcome to St. Nick’s for 4th and 11th October

Dear Friends,

The parable of the wicked tenants is the third ‘vineyard’ parable recorded by Matthew in quick succession.

The Vineyard

A man planted a beautiful vineyard and asked some workers to look after it while he went away.

When harvest time came, he sent servants to collect some fruit. But the workers treated the servants badly and sent them away.

Finally, the owner sent his own son. “Surely they will respect my son,” he thought. But the workers rejected him too.

Jesus told this story to show that God is like the owner, and Jesus is the Son. God wants us to listen to Jesus and use the gifts we are given to do good!

that we may live each day
with confidence in the salvation which is given
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen

Sunday 11th October

Faithful Lord,
whose steadfast love never ceases
and whose mercies never come to an end:
grant us the grace to trust you
