Welcome to St. Nicholas on Sunday 28th April 2024
Dear Friends and Members of St. Nick’s,
As we come together through this newsletter, we find ourselves amidst a world that continues to navigate through challenges and changes. Recent global events remind us of our shared vulnerabilities and the profound need for compassion and resilience. It is in these times we are called to reflect on our faith and the strength it provides, not just for ourselves, but for our communities and beyond.
In the spirit of service and exploration of faith in different contexts, I am excited to share that I will be embarking on a week-long placement with the Royal Navy to experience chaplaincy within the Armed Forces. This opportunity will allow me to understand more deeply the spiritual needs and experiences of those serving in the military and to bring those insights back to our community. I ask for your prayers for guidance and strength as I step into this new environment, hoping to make a meaningful contribution and to learn from this unique pastoral setting. As we look to the week ahead, our Gospel reading comes from John 15:1-8, where Jesus speaks of the vine and the branches, teaching us about the importance of remaining in Him to bear fruit. This passage invites us to consider our own connectedness to Christ and to each other, especially in times when the world feels fragmented. As branches of His vine, we are reminded of the life-giving sustenance that Jesus provides, which enables us to grow and thrive even in the toughest conditions. May this week bring you closer to the source of our faith, and may you feel the presence of God’s nurturing and pruning hand in your life, helping you to flourish in His grace. Peace and blessings, Revd Dr. Augustine Tanner-Ihm Sunday 28th April We look forward to welcoming our lead minister Dr. K. Augustine Tanner-Ihm to preside and preach. Music will be provided by our MD and Organist, Ollie Mills, with readings and prayers from St.Nick’s Kingsway team. |
