Sunday 31st March – Easter Sunday
Blessings to you all as we spring forward into a season filled with hope, renewal, and the occasional hay fever sneeze. I’m your Lead Minister, Augustine Tanner-Ihm, bringing you the latest edition of our online newsletter with a sprinkle of humor, a dash of inspiration, and a whole lot of professional charm.
This week, we’re turning our focus to a day that involves more leaves than your average autumn afternoon – Palm Sunday! Now, before you start thinking this is about starting a new gardening ministry (though that’s not a bad idea…), let me remind you that Palm Sunday marks the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, a day of great significance and the start of Holy Week. Now, I know what you’re thinking: “But Augustine, how can we make Palm Sunday relatable today? I don’t even own a donkey!” Fear not, dear friends. While we may not be entering the city gates on a donkey, we can still embody the spirit of Palm Sunday in our hearts and homes. And yes, waving a palm branch in your living room is entirely acceptable – just be careful not to knock over that vase you told everyone was a family heirloom. Palm Sunday reminds us that sometimes, the most profound moments come wrapped in simplicity. Jesus didn’t need a chariot or fireworks to make an entrance; he chose a humble donkey. In the same way, let’s remember the beauty in humility and the strength in simplicity. Whether you’re joining us in person or online, wearing your Sunday best or your comfortable sweats – you’re part of this community, and you’re welcome here. As we gear up for this Palm Sunday, let’s get ready to wave our branches high (virtual or real), sing Hosanna at the top of our lungs (neighbors permitting), and step into Holy Week with a heart full of joy and reflection. It’s a week to remember, a week to cherish, and yes, a week to enjoy a good chuckle or two as we journey together. So, dear congregation, as we approach this special day, let’s not forget the lessons it teaches us: humility, joy, and the power of a good leafy branch. And remember, if anyone asks why you’re carrying a palm branch around, just tell them you’re leafing your best life! Wishing you all a Palm Sunday filled with laughter, love, and perhaps a slight increase in pollen levels, Revd Dr. Augustine Tanner-Ihm Lead Minister, St. Nick’s Kingsway Sunday 31st March We look forward to welcoming back our lead minister Dr. K.
