Welcome to St. Nick’s on Sunday 20th October

Dear Beloved St. Nick’s Community,

This Sunday’s Gospel reading from Mark 10:35–45 invites us to reflect on the countercultural nature of Christ’s call. As James and John seek places of honor, Jesus redirects their ambition towards humility and service. In God’s kingdom, greatness isn’t measured by status or power but by our willingness to serve one another in love.

Our time together will also carry profound significance as we gather for two sacred moments. After the service, we will lay to rest the ashes of our dear sister Sybil in the remembrance garden. Her life, love, and faith have left an indelible mark on those who knew her, and as we commit her remains to the earth, let us surround her loved ones with our prayers and compassion in this time of farewell.

Additionally, we will celebrate the baptism of Chloe, marking the beginning of her new life in Christ. Baptism is a powerful symbol of grace and transformation, and I encourage you to hold Chloe, her family, and friends in your prayers as she steps into this beautiful, lifelong journey of faith.

These moments remind us that as a church, we walk together through the full circle of life—through sorrow and joy, endings and new beginnings. Let us be mindful of both the tender grief and the hopeful joy we will experience as a community this Sunday.

If you’d like to talk or have a pastoral visit, I’m always here to support you. Feel free to call or text me at
