Welcome to St.Nicholas Kingsway for Sunday 24th and 31st May 2026

Dear Friends,
For many years, scientists who study the environment have asked governments to invest in renewable energy because Earth’s fuel resources are limited. People have experimented with using the power of ocean tides to run generators and produce electricity for heat and light. The sun is already the main source of energy for our planet, and scientists are always finding new ways to use its energy in homes, factories, and on the streets.
Wind farms use the power of the wind to turn large blades, similar to how windmills were used in the past for many different jobs. Energy is everywhere—it keeps us alive and changes us. Energy is life. Because Earth’s resources are running out, we are becoming more aware of what supports and sustains life. A clear example of energy showing life is the breath of a living person.
After Jesus rose from the dead, he breathed on his disciples as a sign that he was sharing his life and energy with them. He said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” This meant that God’s life and power were being given to them. When people receive the Spirit of God, they are changed. The disciples found they could speak in different languages. They became brave and shared the Good News, and they lived together in unity—something that would have seemed impossible before. This new life in the Spirit came when they were feeling afraid, confused, and locked away.
It is helpful to notice the energy and life in the people and the world around us. Everything we see has life in it, and that life is amazing, mysterious, and hard to fully explain.
On the first Pentecost, a great burst of energy was given. That same energy from the Holy Spirit continues to be given to the Church today, helping us work together and make the world better.

through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Holy God,
faithful and unchanging:
enlarge our minds with the knowledge of your truth,
and draw us more deeply into the mystery of your love,
that we may truly worship you,
