Welcome to St.Nick’s on for Sunday 18th and 25th January 2026

Dear Friends,
Over the past decade, the concept of a “big reveal” has become increasingly popular, often promoted on social media. From baby gender reveals to dramatic home and body makeovers, these moments share a common theme: something significant is kept hidden until the right time. This hidden phase allows for transformation and preparation in a safe space—whether it’s a baby growing in the womb or a house being rebuilt behind closed doors.
Isaiah 49, the Old Testament reading for Epiphany 2 offers a spiritual parallel. During Israel’s exile, they were “hidden” in God’s care—protected, refined, and prepared for their calling. Though they felt defeated and exhausted (“I have laboured in vain…”), God knew they were ready to be revealed as a light to the nations, sharing salvation to the ends of the earth.
Epiphany reminds us of the ultimate reveal: Jesus, who could have remained hidden with God, was revealed to the world as the light of salvation. This prompts us to reflect on our own calling. Are we still hidden, being prepared? Or is it time to step out and reveal God’s work in our lives so others may come to know Him?Alison Mills
