Welcome to St. Nick’s on Sunday 5th and 12th October

Dear friends,
October brings with it a deepening autumn. Leaves fall, evenings darken, and yet our Scriptures call us to perseverance and hope.
The Christian journey is not a sprint but a long walk of faith. Again and again the Bible reminds us that God’s people are sustained not by fleeting emotion but by steady endurance. Just as the trees shed their leaves to prepare for winter, we too are invited to let go of what is unnecessary so that deeper roots may form in Christ.
Our takeaway this week is this: true faith is revealed not in the sunshine but in the storm. When life grows harder, we cling to Christ more firmly, trusting that His promise is sure.
A little fact: the Japanese celebrate a festival called “Momijigari” literally, “maple leaf hunting” — where families walk through autumn forests simply to marvel at the beauty of changing leaves. What a reminder that even in loss, there is beauty, and in every ending, a promise of renewal.
May we at St. Nicholas Kingsway embrace this season with trust, letting go of what hinders, and rooting ourselves more deeply in the love of God.
Yours in Christ,
Revd Dr Augustine Tanner-Ihm
