Welcome to St.Nick’s on Sunday 3rd and 10th August 2025

“Kindling the Fire”

Dear Beloved in Christ,

August may be a quiet month in the UK—schools are out, diaries are lighter, and many ministries pause for breath—but Jesus doesn’t take a summer break. In fact, His words in Luke 12 are anything but gentle:

“I came to bring fire to the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!” (Luke 12:49)

This is a wake-up call. Jesus speaks of urgency, division, and discernment. He challenges us to read the signs of the times—not just the weather, but the spiritual climate. Are we alert to what God is doing? Are we ready to respond?

In this season of rest, Jesus invites us not to complacency, but to clarity. The fire He brings is not destruction—it’s refining. It’s the fire of the Spirit, burning away apathy and igniting courage, compassion, and conviction.

So even as the world slows down, let us be a people who burn brightly. Let us be those who see clearly, speak boldly, and live faithfully.

With every blessing,
Revd Dr Augustine Tanner-Ihm
